Finding a bird house kit online is a great way to find a deal on a do it yourself bird house. These kits can be found for a variety of different ages of consumers and can also be found for a variety of different bird species, such as hummingbird houses. The individual will want to pay close attention to the types of birds that he has in his yard so that he can choose just the right bird house to fit their needs. There are different sizes and shapes of bird houses and the wrong size and shape will usually not be used by the birds in that area. There are also some birds that are more particular about the environment that the bird house is in, such as the bluebird. These birds will not nest if the bird house is too deep, so a regular bird house is usually not the best choice for a bluebird which likes to have a shallow nesting experience.

Choosing Well

Buying a bird house kit online can be a little bit risky since the consumer cannot check the kit to make sure that all the components are included within the kit. When buying a bird house kit online, the consumer should carefully read all of the details about the kit, including the fine print. They should find out what ages the kit is designed for so that the materials or instructions are not too difficult for the child or adult creating the bird house. They should also try to find out if additional materials will be needed to complete the bird house and what tools will be required to build it. In this way the consumer can help to prevent frustration once they receive the kit since they will have all the materials they need to complete the bird house and can understand the instructions that come with the kit.

There are some bird house kits online that are designed to sit on top of a pole or post. These poles and posts will not come in the kit and the individual will need to decide where he will put the post in the yard and then go buy one from a home improvement store. If there are a lot of other creatures that inhabit the back yard, the individual will often want to buy a bird house kit online that has some sort of protection for the birds from predators. There are some bird houses that have a lip on the bottom of the house that makes it difficult for a predator to crawl over to get to the entrance to the bird house. The reason that the bird house sits on a pole and has the lip on it is because cats, raccoons, snakes and squirrels will often try to make the eggs or newly hatched chicks a meal.

Bird house building kits can be found in a variety of different styles and also difficulties in putting the kit together. There are kits that are made specifically for children to use and kits that are made for more experienced craftsmen. These bird house kits can be found online as well as in stores. Often good deals can be found online since the store often has less overhead cost since they do not have a retail store to manage with those employees. Instead, they can take the product straight from the manufacturing plant and ship it out to the consumer.

Checking the Kit

One important aspect to check in a bird house building kit for children is what ages are recommended for that particular kit. Usually there are not kits that are recommended for children that are under the age of seven. There are too many small parts and tools required for children that are younger than seven years of age. The bird house building kits that are designed for children seven to ten are usually simpler than the others, using fewer tools and having instructions that are worded so that children of those ages can understand them. Parents should check the kit carefully to make sure that all of the materials are included in the kit and they do not have to buy more materials to complete the project. They will also want to make sure that they have the hammer or the type of screwdriver required by the kit.

When checking the bird house building kits for older children and adults, it is also important to check to see if all the materials are included in the kit. For those who want the best environment possible for the birds, the kit should use cedar as the wood in the kit. Cedar is a natural insect repellant so that the birdhouse does not become infested by different types of insects. The individuals should also check to see what types of birds will be able to fit into the type of house that is bought. There are some bird house building kits that are designed for medium sized birds such as chickadees. There are others that are designed for the needs of one particular species of bird, such as the bluebird. The individual should be sure that the types of birds that he has seen in his backyard are of the same size as the birdhouse is made to fit so that the birdhouse will be sure to be used in the yard.

Cheap bird house kits can be found in warehouses and online. These kits are often kept in bulk by the company so that they can be offered at lower prices to their customers. Often, organizations that run youth camps will look for these bird house building kits to use as a craft at the camps since it is usually easy to create and fun for the kids to do. In addition, the finished product can be taken home so that the children can use it and enjoy the birds that use it in their own backyards.

Organizations

When nonprofit or other youth organizations look for these cheap bird house kits, it is always a better deal for them when they buy more kits at a time. Often, if they are only buying about twenty cheap bird house kits, they will get a five percent discount on the fifteen dollar each kits. If they buy closer to two hundred kits, then the deal goes up to about twenty percent off of the same price of kits. This ends up giving the organization a cheaper bird house kit on the whole so that they are spending less per child for the same great product.

Although a beginner has to buy the cheap bird house kit, which can run from ten to fifty dollars, depending on the complexity of the birdhouse and the materials that are used, there are more experienced craftsmen who can build the birdhouse from a set of directions rather than using a kit. The cheap birdhouse kits are nice for beginners to use since all of the materials are precut and ready for the person to use so that they do not have to have as many tools to get the birdhouse put together. For more experienced craftsmen, however, they already have all the tools that they need to create the birdhouse from scratch. In this way, they can buy the materials in bulk and cut out what they need from the sheets of wood. This ends up being less expensive in the long run that buying a cheap birdhouse kit for that person.

There are different materials that are used in these cheap birdhouse kits. The kits will become more expensive if the wood is of a better grade, such as using cedar instead of pine. Cedar is a good choice in materials since it offers insect protection for the birds that dwell within it.

Bluebirds are a special species of bird that is becoming endangered as the environment in which they live is decreasing. Bluebirds are different than other birds in that they are not able to create nests from scratch but have to use the holes that are created by woodpeckers or rotted trees to use as a template in which to create their nests. Since these areas are more and more difficult to find, these bluebirds have been decreasing in population. To counteract this, there are bluebird house kits that individuals can use to easily construct a custom made bluebird house for these unique birds to build their nests in.

Features

These kits are fairly cheap birdhouse kits, usually costing around fifteen dollars per kit. Each kit will usually create one birdhouse for use in the yard in either the front or back of the house. Bluebird house kits are a little different than typical birdhouse kits since the shape and size of the house has to be a little different to accommodate the requirements of a bluebird. For instance, bluebirds like to nest in a shallow area rather than a deep birdhouse. The depth of a bluebird house kit is usually around five inches deep. This helps to make the bluebirds happy as well as forcing other birds to stay out, such as sparrows.

The floor of the bluebird house kit is also fairly small, only running about five inches by five inches. There is usually a hole or two in the floor of the house so that the water or waste materials can easily run out of the birdhouse rather than becoming moldy or soiled. The bluebird house kits also have ventilation slots that are stationed just under the eaves of the roof of the birdhouse to allow air to get into the birdhouse without letting in the adverse elements.

Bluebird house kits also have a different shape for the entryway in most cases since bluebirds typically desire a slit-like entryway rather than the typical round hole that is found on other birdhouses. This design also helps to keep other birds out since they do not like the slit type of entrance. Since these birdhouses are mounted on a pole or post, they will also be constructed differently than those that hang on the trees so that the birdhouse can remain solid in all types of weather conditions. When placing the birdhouse, the individuals should make sure that the opening of the house is not facing into the wind, thereby keeping the birds more protected within the house.

Wooden bird house kits are the most popular types of bird houses on the market today since they are simple to construct in most cases and are fairly inexpensive. These wooden bird house kits can also be used with children’s groups since they do not require many tools besides a hammer or screwdriver, and the directions are usually simple enough for a child of seven to follow. There are bluebird house kits that are made especially for that species of bird, since they have certain requirements that other birds do not have. These wooden bird house kits are often made of cedar wood since that will help to deter insects in the bird house. There are other bird houses made of all different types of wood as well to create whatever style the individual wants to create with the bird house.

Options

There are often three types of wooden bird house kits on the market today. There are single family bird houses, multifamily birdhouses and bird feeder kits. These kits all have some of the same features in them, but there are some stylistic differences between them. The single wooden birdhouse kits are usually the simplest to construct since it is basically a small box with a hole in the front of it and some ventilation and drainage space in the top and bottom. These kits usually have a simple wooden roof that is slanted slightly to allow the water to drain from the roof of the birdhouse. There is also usually a plank of wood at the back of the birdhouse that allows it to be attached to the tree or post where it will hang for the birds to nest in it.

The multifamily wooden birdhouse kits are a little more complex. Instead of having a single piece of wood for the roof of the house, the roof now has to be composed of at least two pieces so that it can slope to either side of the house. There are also several entrances at front so that multiple birds can go into it at one time and have separate places to make their nests. This birdhouse also has a flat back to it so that it can easily be hung on a tree or on a post so that the birds can perch nearby when they are nesting. It also keeps the birds close to the nesting materials so that they do not have to fly as far when building the nests.

Bird house kits are fun projects that can be put together by an older child by himself, or can be constructed by the family together. There are also kits that can be used by boy scouts or girl scouts for certain projects, and can also be used by schools to help provide a fun way to teach children about the birds in the area after building homes for them to live in. These bird house kits come in a variety of different styles and sizes. Some of the kits are made for a particular species of bird while others are made to be more decorative for the individual to place in the yard. Other bird house kits are made for communities of birds or are a combination of a feeder and a nesting platform for the birds in the area.

Choosing a Kit

The benefit to buying a bird house kit as opposed to buying the materials separately and assembling according to a set of directions is that the kit already contains all that is required for the individual to put together the birdhouse. That is why these kits are such a fun purchase for children to put together. The instructions can usually be followed in a basic bird house kit by a child of the age of seven or older. Most of the time, the bird house kit can be assembled by the person with the use of a hammer or a screwdriver but not many other, more complex tools.

Although these bird house kits are easy to assemble in most cases, they often do not offer the flexibility or variety of styles that some individuals might want for their bird houses. There are also individuals that might be more experienced in carpentry and want to experiment with designs of bird houses so that it looks and functions like they want it to do. These bird house kits will usually cost around fifteen dollars, but the more elaborate the kit, the more expensive the cost.

A typical bird house is about five inches by five inches on the floor of the house. The depth is usually around eight inches high to provide the depth needed for most birds to nest. There is usually some sort of ventilation slit under the eaves of the bird house so that air can get in while keeping the house protected from the elements. The bird house kits are often made to fit a particular size of bird, with the medium kits usually being adequate for chickadees, finches, nuthatches and other medium birds.

There are many environmental organizations that will put on summer camps and other experiences and workshops for children. These organizations will often look for a craft that the kids can do which will allow them to have a greater appreciation for nature as well as leave with a great product. Bird house kits for kids are often the craft of choice since it is a simple activity for the children to complete in addition to allowing the children to hang it and experience all of the birds in their environment when they get home.

Deals

Different non-profit organizations that organize camps like this can often find deals on the bird house kits for kids. Usually, the more the wooden bird house kits that are ordered, the cheaper the kits are for the organization to buy. Often the company that produces the bird houses will give a larger discount when an organization buys more kits, such as giving five percent off if less than twenty are ordered, but giving twenty percent off if one to two hundred kits are ordered.

These bird house kits for kids will use simple materials that are easy to assemble with a minimum of tools. The younger the children that will be completing the kit, the more simple the supplies included in the kit. Usually the only tools that are required to put together the bird house kits for kids are a hammer and a screw driver. This allows children of all ages over seven to complete the kits with a minimum of supervision and help.

There are some kits that can be used with older children that have taken some woodworking classes. These kits will often have more detailed instructions and will create a more decorative bird house when the kit is put together. There are also some bird house kits for kids that are made especially for a certain type of bird, such as a bluebird house. These houses are made a certain size and depth which is attractive to the bluebirds so that they will want to nest there. These sizes and depths will also help to keep out other birds that might want to steal the nesting area as is the case with bluebirds and sparrows. There are also some bird house kits for kids that have a lip at the bottom of it which makes it difficult for a predator to climb over it to get the mother bird and eggs.
